The need for digital expertise
in a digital world

The need for digital expertise in a digital world.

The digital explosion we have been experiencing ever since the onset of the modern personal computer has no signs of abating. Good for us and good for you, the ever increasing development of a faster, better, and more efficient way to communicate has given rise to a new wave of small business owners ready to tackle the world and make their mark. Their first port of call after branding and name choosing is usually social media, and rightly so. Businesses can often run their entire operation on Instagram & Facebook. Followings can be garnered and sales can be made. For creative agencies, this means branding their channels and advising on social media methodology through the creation of story lines and strategy.

However at some point, that brand will realise the more channels the better, and that means getting a new website or a mobile app presence. Now we applaud the rise of build your own website platform solutions such as Squarespace and Weebly, and for build and sell app solutions like Buildfire where customers can without coding experience get a store up and running with little overhead. Great as a creative agency you can direct your customers to these platforms or even harness them yourselves for an amazing upsell opportunity. And that is good, but here’s where it all comes crashing down.

Don’t say crash when talking websites.

You will no doubt have applied your glorious branding and design into these platforms and your clients will be happy. Happy except for that small little detail the owner wants which is a pop up for newsletters or change of menu style. They’re human, humans change their minds often. Believe this! But no matter, your chosen platform should be able to do this, shouldn’t it? Well, unfortunately, there will always be a scenario where a simple client request will lead to a road block of insurmountable proportions. Now you will cajole the platform to behave or the client the same, to solve your woes but this usually ends up backfiring and demands become more stringent. Your good name is getting hammered because you sold a digital product without any digital experience. We feel you, we help you!

Digital expertise to the rescue.

Your local digital expert is a person or organisation that won’t take no for an answer. There usually is a workaround, but it will always involve coding expertise. They will have many clever ways to override even the most stubborn platforms. This means two things: you save your client for future work, and you realise digital expertise can’t be substituted. Now, do you go on and sell on digital expertise via do-it-yourself platforms? Well, that depends if you’re a masochist. Ask your digital supplier if they can build you a digital solution that allows you to sell templated websites of your own design, or contact us and let us show you how you can mark up our digital work and still get the digital expertise to back it up. A win-win for everyone.
